The former governor of Alaska left no doubts about her support for the 2012 GOP presidential ticket. "I'm excited that we now have the team of Romney/Ryan to offer an alternate vision of America," she stated. She was pleased with Gov. Romney's selection of Paul Ryan, she said, because the choice makes the election about the Obama economy. Gov. Palin said this campaign should be different for Ryan than the 2008 contest was for her because some members of the McCain campaign staff worked against her. She doesn't think Ryan will have that problem with Romney's team. "There's a lot of us who will have his [Ryan's] back," she added.
Her assessment of the GOP ticket's chances is that it is in a very competitive position. With the selection of Ryan, Romney has fiscal conservatives on his side, she explained. She said the task the GOP presidential candidate now faces is to persuade independents that he and Ryan have the right solutions to fix the nation's problems, and Ryan has already proven that he is a problem-solver.
In response to a viewer's question about the vice presidential debate, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said that while her debate with Biden was focused on foreign policy and the Iraq war, the Biden-Ryan debate will be more centered on the economy. Since economics is Ryan's strong suit, he is already well-prepared, she pointed out.
Asked if she would accept a cabinet position in a Romney administration if offered, Sarah Palin pushed the question aside as "hypothetical." She said right now she thinks she can best help the ticket by reaching out to independents.
In defense of Ryan's plan for Medicare, she stressed that the media has distorted the plan, and Americans 50 years of age and older will not be affected. "We must reform health care," Gov. Palin declared, and the Ryan plan offers common-sense reform of the program.
The governor made it clear that she is willing to stump for the Republican ticket, stating, "I'm all in for Romney and Ryan." She said her mission is to help -- not hurt. That's why she has "stepped back" to concentrate on down-ticket races.
Mame Grizzly concluded by asking viewers to pray for the Ryan and Romney families, and she repeated her familiar refrain, "May we always be happy, and may our enemies know it."
