Gov. Palin Says Her Attendance at Convention Is in RNC’s Hands

Sarah Palin appeared with Greta Van Susteren "On The Record" Tuesday night. The former Alaska governor and the host discussed the come-from-behind victory by Ted Cruz in today's Texas GOP primary runoff election for the U.S. Senate and the upcoming Republican convention in Tampa, Florida:

Ron Devito reports:
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight supported Chick-Fil-A’s First Amendment rights, discussed the Ted Cruz Victory, her continued wait on the RNC’s answer about attendance at the GOP Convention, and former Vice President Dick Cheney’s comments about her 2008 Vice Presidential nomination during an interview with Greta Van Susteren from a Fox affiliate’ studio at an unknown location.

Gov. Palin said that David Cathy, the President of Chick-Fil-A was expressing his support of traditional marriage, not gay-bashing. She regarded attempts by the mayors of several cities to boycott the franchise chain as being intolerant, bigoted, and hypocritical. She said that Muslims, Orthodox Jews, Catholics, and Protestants all consider marriage as being between one man and one woman as they have for millennia. Further, she said Obama and Biden also held this belief until they flip-flopped in order to satisfy homosexual campaign donors.

Gov. Palin expressed her satisfaction with Ted Cruz’s US Senate Primary victory. She said it was “Tea Party Patriots who worked to get him elected and help get our country back on the right track.” Gov. Palin first learned about Ted Cruz through conservative talk show host Mark Levin. She subsequently learned that Cruz is a Ninth and Tenth Amendment scholar.

Van Susteren asked Gov. Palin if she thought the matter of gay marriage should be settled at the national level. She answered that the dialogue should be held at the national level, but it is up to the states to decide the issue.

Gov. Palin had expressed interest in being at the GOP Convention in Tampa, but said the final disposition of her attendance is in the RNC’s hands and she awaits their answer.

Van Susteren asked Gov. Palin to respond to Dick Cheney’s comment that selecting her for the VP nomination in 2008 “was a mistake.” She said “if Dick – I mean ‘Vice President’ – Cheney” did not know her record, she felt sorry for him. Gov. Palin added that the mistake would have been “saying no to service” and “hunkering down in Alaska.” She enjoyed an 86% approval rate prior to her nomination, had ushered in ethics reform and had nearly a dozen crony capitalists sent to jail. She said it was an honor to accept the nomination, an honor to run alongside McCain, and an honor to be the GOP VP candidate.

Gov. Palin said “some days, baby you’re the Louisville Slugger, and other days you’re the ball. Right now, I’m the ball – and that’s okay.” Gov. Palin said she would continue working on her down-ticket candidates, principally for Senate “to transform our government into one that is off the backs of the people and works for the people instead.”

Sarah Palin: Congratulations to Ted Cruz!

Just posted by Gov. Palin on Facebook:
Congratulations to Ted Cruz! This is a victory both for Ted and for the grassroots Tea Party movement. This primary race has always been about the kind of leadership we need in D.C. Our goal is not just about changing the majority in the Senate. It is about the kind of leadership we want. Ted Cruz represents the kind of strong conservative leadership we want in D.C. Go-along to get-along career politicians who hew the path of least resistance are no longer acceptable at a time when our country is drowning in debt and our children's futures are at stake. The message of this race couldn't be clearer for the political establishment: the Tea Party is alive and well and we will not settle for business as usual. Now, it's on to November!

Gov. Palin: Vote Tomorrow for Martha Zoller in Georgia

On Facebook, Sarah Palin encouraged Georgians to get out the vote Tuesday for Martha Zoller:
Vote Tomorrow: Martha Zoller for Congress (GA-9)

If you agree that it’s time our elected officials stopped talking at us and started listening to us, then I hope you will join me in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress tomorrow in Georgia's 9th Congressional District primary election. Martha has been fighting for conservative causes for years as an award winning radio show host where she has been a voice for the Tea Party movement.

Martha is running against the establishment, which, as we know, is an uphill battle; but with all of our support she can win. In Congress she’ll vote to cut spending, lower taxes, and repeal Obamacare. In addition to being pro-life and a firm defender of our Constitution, including our Second Amendment rights, Martha is a strong fiscal conservative. Her “MAP for Prosperity” plan calls for increased accountability, bold reform, and citizen engagement – three things we need more of in Washington.

I hope tomorrow you’ll join me and other conservatives like Newt Gingrich, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress!

- Sarah Palin
In Georgia, polls will be open tomorrow from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

Sarah Palin: Ted Cruz will be the people's Senator

Gov. Palin posted a photo and an appeal to get out the vote for Ted Cruz in Tuesday's Texas U.S. Senate primary race:

Photobucket
Last Friday, I joined with Sen. Jim DeMint, Tea Party Leaders, and thousands of Texas patriots at a rally to get out the vote for Ted Cruz in tomorrow's run-off election. Ted will serve Texas with distinction as the people's Senator, not the establishment's. He will work for all Americans to defend our Constitution and help put the nation's economy on the right track. Electing Ted will start us down the road of returning power to the people and taking our country back. Texans, I urge you to get out and vote tomorrow for Ted Cruz. Bring your neighbors, friends, and family with you and choose Cruz!

- Sarah Palin
Polls will be open in Texas Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Tony Lee: Gov. Palin Stars In TV Ad For U.S. Senate Candidate Steelman

Our friend Tony Lee at Breitbart.com reports that Gov. Sarah Palin is the star of a new television ad for U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman in Missouri. The ad will air across the Show Me state starting today:

Steelman told Breitbart News that Palin “is one of the strongest conservative leaders in the country who remains steadfast battling for what is right despite the personal attacks from the liberal left" and someone who “isn't afraid to take on the status quo” as she fights to “return the power of government to the people where it belongs.”

“I respect and admire her,” Steelman said, noting she was also “honored and excited that Governor Palin has endorsed me for U.S. Senate.”

“[Palin] believes we need people with a strong backbone willing to fight for what is right,” Steelman said. “She knows I will cut government spending, balance the budget and get government out of the way."

[...]

Steelman is hoping ads such as this will swing those undecided voters over to her, much in the same way Palin’s endorsement sealed the deal for Senate candidates in Indiana (Richard Mourdock) and Nebraska (Deb Fischer) and boosted the chances of Texas’s Ted Cruz, who is leading his race against David Dewhurst going into Texas’s Tuesday runoff.

Gov. Palin endorsed Steelman July 17. The former Missouri state treasurer is in a close primary battle with businessman John Brunner. Both candidates are running well ahead of U.S. Rep. Todd Aiken.

Houston Chronicle: Palin wows The Woodlands

On the Chron.com On Politics blog, Joe Holley reports that Sarah Palin fired up a Friday rally for Ted Cruz:
On a village green in The Woodlands, north of Houston, Friday evening, an enthusiastic crowd of approximately a thousand tea partiers joined U.S. Senate hopeful Ted Cruz in a “Yes, We Can” chant parodying the current occupant of the White House and gave a rapturous welcome to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who told the crowd that those “who cling to our guns, God and Constitution” have a friend in Cruz.

Video courtesy Palin for Cruz
[...]

Palin, who endorsed Cruz before the May primary, also mocked Obama, who predicted during a recent Texas trip that the Lone Star State soon would become “a battleground state.”

“There will be an Alaskan-sized blizzard on the Brazos before Texas turns blue for Barack,” said Palin, who wore dark sunglasses and black boots given to her by Gov. Rick Perry, who’s backing Dewhurst. Palin assured the crowd they would all be back on the same team after Tuesday.

[...]

Palin spent most of her 20-minute remarks lambasting Obama and what she called “the permanent political class” in Washington. Palin called Cruz’s election “a come-to-Jesus moment.”

“There is good news,” she said, “and that is, there is nothing wrong with America that a good, ol’ fair election can’t fix.”

She described Cruz as “a proven, common-sense constitutional conservative, and he’s a fighter and he will bring new leadership to the United States Senate. He will shrink government, he will be putting government back on the side of the American working man and he will defend the Constitution.”
Gov. Palin also told the crowd that on the way to The Woodlands from the airport, she noticed a Chick Fil-A and lamented that the chain doesn't have any restaurants in Alaska. To a chorus of loud cheers, she said, "Love me some Chick Fil-A," and added that she wanted to stop at the restaurant to eat on the return trip. She was as good as her word:

Sarah Palin: ‘Stars Earns Stripes’ honors our veterans & first responders

Gov. Palin posted this on Facebook this afternoon:
"Stars Earns Stripes" is honoring our veterans and first responders who are fighting to protect the good guys every day! Todd was privileged to work with an amazing team of production experts, competitors, and patriots in this absolutely kick-butt show that airs after the Olympics. It will blow you away as you witness what our troops and first responders go through.

I don't know if I've ever met such a genuine, dedicated, and hardcore self-disciplined group of "stars" and operatives. This show can change your life if you understand the discipline and dedication our troops and first responders go through in order to bring honor to this great nation and then apply that same courage and discipline to your own life.

"Stars Earn Stripes"...wimps need not apply! :)

Palin convention announcement impending

Will Sarah Palin attend the Republican convention in Tampa next month? The question has generated considerable speculation recently, but we should know the answer before the weekend is over:
"We'll have an announcement in a couple of days," she told a reporter for the Tampa Bay Times Wednesday. “I don't know if we'll do anything fancy as a press conference, but we'll get the word out."

Palin made the comments poolside at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, where TV critics attended an NBC reception promoting its new fall programs. One of them is “Stars Earn Stripes,” a reality show starring Palin’s husband Todd. The show features celebrities doing military exercises.
Among the GOP heavyweights who have called for Gov. Palin to speak at the Aug. 27-30 convention are Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and former senior White House advisor Pat Buchanan.

Regarding Sarah: Quotes, Part 4

Shushannah Walshe:
“The former Alaska governor has a stellar GOP primary endorsement record so far this cycle.”
Twitchy:
“While the Hollywood Left bashes former VP candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with one hand, the other hand is rushing to snap pictures of the certified GOP rock star... NBC threw a party for several programs and invited members of the Television Critics Association to hob-knob with the stars. Palin shined brightest, and Tinseltown took notice...”
Todd Starnes:
“There’s a reason why folks like Sarah Palin and Allen West are resonating with conservatives. It’s because they not only talk the talk, but they walk the walk. Voters respect that.”
Michelle Cottle:
“...it’s time for Romney to man up, pick up the phone, and ask Palin to the dance. Risks aside, he needs her charisma. He needs her ability to rev up the base. Coming at it from a different direction, the man—already being accused of wimpiness by his own party—cannot afford to look like he’s too chicken-shit to let the original Mama Grizzly up on that stage. Seriously. If Obama could give Hillary a prime speaking spot in ’08, with packs of embittered PUMAs (remember them?) gnashing their teeth and threatening to disrupt the entire convention, Romney can extend a hand to La Sarah.”
Newt Gingrich:
“Governor Palin absolutely should speak. I believe she will speak. She represents an intensity of support among our base that is vital.”
Kevin Fobbs:
“It is now up to Mitt Romney to make a choice that demonstrates leadership and courage to go against the Palin detractors in the Republican establishment... Let her speak as she has already done to millions of Americans about their hearts and spirits that have grown weary from hope transformed into hopelessness and change now replaced with more of the same jobless heartache. Let Palin speak to an America that is rich in the strength of personal purpose and guided by unchanging ideals that have clarity gained from sweat of the brow and not a government handout or bailout. This is the America that she must be invited to speak to at the August Republican convention.”
Sen. Jim DeMint:
“I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot — as far as speaking — because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does.”
Maggie:
“What? The invitations haven’t hit the post office yet? Please don’t go there. Palin should have a central position and should have been on the speakers list for months. She, Congressman Allen West and Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann are the voices of conservative leaders, and Palin started it all, along with the TEA Party. Give Palin a platform for this one night. She deserves it. Conservatives deserve it. Surely there is room on the stage for Palin, along with Pawlenty, Daniels, Portman, Rice, and Jindal.”
A Texan:
“Gov. Sarah Palin was able to demonstrate in a little over 2 months what Team McCain’s expensive strategists were unable to do in 18 months: Give heart and purpose to a campaign.”
Dustin Hawkins:
“Yes, McCain was losing before he picked Palin and he lost even with Palin, but not because of Palin. Obama had ‘history’ on his side. Obama had money on his side and he outspent McCain by 2-1 margins. It doesn't matter who you are, that is almost impossible to overcome. Obama was buying 1 hour Prime-time TV weep-fests and McCain was just flat-out broke. While it's likely statements like ‘avoid the Palin mistake’ and ‘scared of picking the next Palin’ will forever remain, the facts simply don't make the case that Palin cost McCain the election. McCain was never going to win for many, many reasons. And no vice-presidential pick was ever going to save him.”
Lee Stranahan:
“Let's be real about this, too; Palin had a noticeable impact even though McCain / Palin lost in '09. See all the badass conservative women?”
Twitchy:
“Sarah Palin and her husband Todd (a cast member on the new NBC show ‘Stars Earn Stripes’) attended an NBC party, also attended by members of the Television Critics Association... At least one media outlet is framing it as she ‘crashed’ the party... It’s funny how they constantly shriek that she ‘inserts’ herself (even when invited) into situations, yet they then fawn and coo over her when she is there. Like moths to the brightest and most attractive flame.”
Stacy Drake:
“It’s no wonder why nobody trusts the media anymore. Governor Palin has been lied about repeatedly by the same people over and over again...”
Tony Lee:
“Of course, Palin was the only person in the 2008 campaign who had the guts to expose then-candidate Obama’s associations, and the mainstream media-loving McCain campaign tried to muzzle her. Furthermore, the McCain campaign tried to turn the most unconventional and anti-establishment in Palin into an establishment drone, trying to make her memorize the political positions of McCain who himself did not seem to be familiar with... As was detailed in a series of Breitbart News articles, the political consultants associated with the McCain campaign decided that the only way for them to continue to be gainfully employed in politics was to falsely blame the loss on Palin.”
Daria Anne DiGiovanni:
“What makes this so ironic is that Mitt Romney’s surrogates have been trashing Palin for years.”
Anita Finlay:
“A blockbuster study conducted by George Washington University revealed Sarah Palin received twice the scrutiny as Joe Biden in their race for the Vice Presidency in 2008. We obsessed about Palin’s appearance, stand on social issues and family while Joe Biden got coverage on his stances on foreign policy and the economy. Furthermore, twice as many articles were published scrutinizing and obsessing over her every move whereas he got a relatively quiet ride. Mr. Biden is known for his ‘rhetorical flourishes’ as President Obama calls them – otherwise known as gaffes. I like Vice President Biden, but no one could argue that he has a very long ‘blooper reel’ to his credit. We just laugh it off – but if a woman said those things…. ”
Noel Sheppard:
“On Tuesday... Tonight Show host {Jay Leno], during his opening monologue cheap-shotted former Alaska governor Sarah Palin with a juvenile wisecrack involving a stripper look-alike in Tampa, Florida... Classy stuff from America's top comedian - kind of what I expect from HBO's Bill Maher.”
J. Michael Heilig:
“What the future holds for Sarah Palin is anyone's guess, but one thing is for certain, she will continue to be a driving force in the conservative movement and will continue to solely define the narrative. If this is for no other reason than the GOP's refusal to get on a message and stick with it, it is no less a reality. The former Governor of Alaska has become the author of the conservative movement, and all else aside, it has become her story to tell. ”
Andrew McLaren:
“Todd and Sarah Palin are the nicest people I have ever met.”
Lloyd Marcus:
“So where are the prominent voices who are standing up and celebrating the goodness and greatness of America? Reagan always touted the goodness of America and how God is with us. Michael Reagan said his dad was America's last great cheerleader. Sadly, I must agree. Although there is one strong contender for the next great cheerleader... Showing more ‘cojones’ than many Republican males, Palin continues to be a relentless cheerleader for Ronald Reagan's and my dad's America. But Sarah Palin is only one courageous woman. To conquer the shock-and-awe assault on our country by Obama and his media minions, we need an army of cheerleaders. To pass patriotism on to our children and our children's children, we need many more American cheerleaders -- teaching character, hard work, education, and the goodness and greatness of this extraordinary, unique, successful experiment called America.”

Gov. Palin on Chick-fil-A fuss: ‘Chicago thuggery is a scary thing’

Fox Radio's Todd Starnes reports Sarah Palin told him that she is "appalled" by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s derogatory comments about Chick-fil-A, characterizing the leftwing attacks as "thuggery."
“Chicago thuggery is a scary thing in 2012,” Palin told me. “For its politicians to think they can muscle businesses and shut them out just because they hold a differing, albeit traditional, view on an issue is a scary thing indeed.”

Emanuel said he would support banning the construction of a second Chicago-area Chick-fil-A because the company’s owner believes in the biblical definition of marriage — meaning a union of one man and one woman.

“Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values,” Emanuel said in a statement to Fox News.

Palin balked at the threats to ban the private, family-owned restaurant from the Windy City.

“With a representative of Chicago politics making these threats, Id’ be loathe to support any politician hailing from Chicago who supported Rahm and this radical action.”

Gov. Palin pointed out that the owner of Chick-fil-A shares his opposition to redefining traditional definition marriage with most Americans who’ve voted on the issue. In fact, President Obama held this same point of view until quite recently, but pivoted on the issue “when it became politically convenient for him to flip-flop around on.” She asked, “Did these protesters oppose President Obama?” The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate added, “The leftwing’s double standard with intolerance of other people’s opinions in quite tiring, yet so expected. “This is merely more of the same.”

Sarah Palin: ‘Bad guys don’t follow laws’

TheWrap, a website which covers Hollywood, caught up with Gov. Palin on the Television Critics Association summer press tour and asked her to comment on the Aurora massacre:
Palin called the shooting “a manifestation of evil -- very, very tragic.” She added, “I’m very sad that that happened.”

Asked whether the shooting should affect gun policy, she said, “the bad guys, the criminals, don’t follow laws and restricting more of America’s freedoms when it comes to self-defense isn’t the answer. Not when you consider what the reality is. Bad guys don’t follow laws.”

She paused when asked whether Hollywood had any involvement in the shooting, then said: “Who knows what went into that deranged shooter’s mind?"

Gov. Palin will rally with Ted Cruz in Texas Friday (Updated)

Sean Sullivan at Hotline On Call is reporting that Sarah Palin will be in the Houston area Friday night for a campaign rally with U.S. Senate hopeful Ted Cruz:
It will be rare campaign trail appearance by the former vice presidential nominee, who endorses in congressional races from time to time, but rarely travels to stump on behalf of her preferred candidate.

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, as well as local and national tea party leaders, will also attend the GOTV rally at the Woodlands, north of Houston.

Governor Palin endorses Martha Zoller in GA-9

Roll Call's Joshua Miller reports:
Congressional candidate Martha Zoller, locked in a tough GOP primary with state Rep. Doug Collins in Georgia’s new 9th district, today picked up the endorsement of Sarah Palin, Zoller’s campaign said.

Zoller, a conservative talk radio host, has positioned herself as the insurgent candidate against Collins, who is close with Gov. Nathan Deal (R) and the Atlanta GOP establishment. Both candidates are very conservative.

Although Collins has a huge fundraising advantage over Zoller, Miller says the word from "unaligned" Georgia Republicans is that this race is close, and either candidate could conceivably win the primary. Miller adds that the district is so Republican that the winner of the primary will most likely be representing the district in Congress next January.

According to AccessNorthGa.com, Zoller personally requested Sarah Palin's endorsement earlier this year. Gov. Palin's statement:
"If you agree that it's time our elected officials stopped talking at us and started listening to us, then I hope you will join me in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress from Georgia's 9th Congressional District," said Gov. Palin via e-mail. "Martha has been fighting for conservative causes for years as an award winning radio show host where she has been a voice for the Tea Party movement.

"Martha is running against the establishment, which, as we know, is an uphill battle; but with all of our support she can win. In Congress, she'll vote to cut spending, lower taxes, and repeal Obamacare. "I hope you'll join me and other conservatives like Sean Hannity and Mark Levin in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress."
And Martha Zoller's reaction to the endorsement:
"I am thrilled to have the strong support of Governor Palin in my efforts to represent Georgia's 9th Congressional District in Congress and restore fiscal sanity in Washington," said Zoller. "Together, we will fight to put this country back on the right track and ensure prosperity and opportunity for many generations to come."

Sarah Palin Endorses Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate

In a Monday press release, The Flake for Senate campaign announced the endorsement of Gov. Palin:
PHOENIX – The Flake campaign announced today that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has endorsed Jeff Flake for United States Senate. Jeff Flake sought Governor Palin’s support and is honored to have it.

In a letter to Jeff, Governor Palin wrote: “The United States Senate needs a leader like Jeff Flake. Jeff is a proven conservative crusader, and today I am proud to announce mysupport for his campaign to become the next U.S. Senator from the great state of Arizona.

“Throughout his tenure in Congress, Jeff has been a consistent leader against the federal government’s out of control spending. Jeff is known for his media releases titled ‘Just How Broke Are We?’ where he brings home the reality of what our unimaginable $15 trillion debt really means in everyday terms. For the past eight years, Jeff has been ranked #1 in the House of Representatives by the National Taxpayers Union for his efforts against wasteful government spending.
“Credited by many as the leading anti-earmark crusader in the House, Jeff has fought hard against pork barrel spending – often times casting one of the few GOP ‘no’ votes on bloated spending measures. He’s not afraid to ‘go rogue’ against his own party and its leadership; and even though he has sometimes suffered the consequences from GOP leaders for failing to toe the party line, yet he continues to fight for what is right.

“I’ve spoken often about the need for sudden and relentless reform of government. Jeff is just the sort of ‘relentless reformer’ we need in the Senate. He will bring his fight against our crippling debt, reckless spending, and wasteful earmarks to the Senate. Watch this video at www.mrflaketakesonwashington.com, and you’ll see why I am joining with Senators McCain & Kyl to support Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate.”

Jeff Flake responded to the endorsement, saying: “I am very gratified to receive the support of Governor Palin today. Governor Palin is a passionate conservative who has inspired many in the cause to reform Washington. I have always shared her healthy aversion to wasteful spending and out of control bureaucracy. Again, I am pleased to have her confidence in this campaign.”

Arizona’s battle-tested conservative, Jeff Flake, is committed to supporting policiesthat reduce spending, lower taxes, and limit burdensome regulation. He is nationally recognized as one of the most consistent, fiscally conservative members in Congress. He has been endorsed by conservative leaders and organizations throughout Arizona and the nation, including: Congressman Paul Ryan, U.S. Senators Jon Kyl, John McCain, Jim DeMint, Pat Toomey and Mike Lee; National Taxpayers Union, Arizona Right to Life, and FreedomWorks for America. Gov. Palin: Support Ted Cruz

Sarah Palin posted Monday morning on Facebook:

Today early voting begins in the run-off election for U.S. Senate in Texas. Texans have a clear choice in this race, and I encourage them to support Ted Cruz, a strong conservative fighter who will protect and defend our Constitution and not just go along to get along with the reckless spending of the permanent political class in D.C. The high-paid consultants of Ted’s well-funded opponent are in full panic mode and have plunged millions of dollars into false personal attacks against Ted meant to dispirit us and break our conviction. We’ve all seen these tactics before, but together we can make sure they don’t succeed. I encourage Texans to get out and vote for Ted Cruz.

The Palins comment on Aurora tragedy

Sarah Palin expressed her concern for those affected by the events in Aurora, Colorado today:
Todd's and my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the terrible tragedy in Colorado. Our family joins others in praying for everyone affected by the evil that inexplicably took innocent lives. We wish to remind all to hold loved ones tight.
Her daughter Bristol posted "Mourning" on Bristol's Blog:
I’m not even sure what to say this morning, except to join in the national sadness over the shooting in Colorado.

Let’s all pray for the families of the victims and hold our loved ones a little bit more tightly today.

Also, I just heard on Fox that there are military “casualties,” so please join me in prayer that all of our military survived this tragedy.

Gov. Palin: Sarah Steelman for U.S. Senate (Updated)

On Facebook just minutes ago, Sarah Palin posted her endorsement of Sarah Steelman in the Missouri U.S. Senate race:
SARAH STEELMAN FOR U.S. SENATE

As we seek to fundamentally restore our great nation to strength and prosperity, we must send more commonsense conservatives to the U.S. Senate. We need sincere public servants who will fight for us, not the special interests and the permanent political class in Washington. Sarah Steelman will fight for all of Missouri and all of us, and that is why we must send her to D.C. this fall.

Sarah has run a grassroots campaign the way it should be run – handshake by handshake, voter by voter, farm to farm, not TV ad after TV ad. As a former State Treasurer and State Senator, Sarah has often had to stand up to the political establishment – even those in her own party – to stop out of control spending and the destructive debt it leaves in its wake. As a mother of three, Sarah knows that we must cut our unsustainable debt to preserve our children’s future. She’ll fight hard for Ag families against the crushing regulations that the Obama administration has put on them.

Please join me in supporting Sarah Steelman for U.S. Senate. Let’s send a commonsense conservative woman from the Show Me state to show Washington how to get things done.

- Sarah Palin
Update: Steelman's reaction, via Twitter:
I am honored and proud to receive

Jeffrey Lord to Romney Camp: Show Sarah Palin Some Respect

Jeffrey Lord, who served as an aide to both Jack Kemp and Ronald Reagan, warns the Romney campaign that if it doesn't invite Gov. Palin to the GOP convention, it risks having Tea Party activists stay home in droves on election day:
First, quickly and publicly remedy this by graciously inviting Governor Palin.

Second. As the 2008 nominees, Senator McCain and Governor Palin should have some place and/or role of honor at the convention -- in this case, yes, speaking slots for both.

Third. Make certain that all of the nominee's defeated rivals -- Gingrich, Santorum, Bachmann, Ron Paul, Pawlenty, Perry -- are given some public role at the convention. Have a unity dinner/breakfast/lunch with Governor Romney -- lots of pictures. If there is a running mate selected by then -- include the running mate.

Fourth: Get the platform under control -- consult, consult, consult, consult. And have the votes in subcommittees, full committees and on the floor to get it done.

Last but not least: The night that Governor Romney accepts the nomination, at the conclusion of his speech and his bows with his running mate -- flood the stage with McCain, Palin and all the defeated rivals.

Message: We are not Team Romney -- we are Team America. And yes, Barack Obama, we are as one on the mission to stop you and your "transforming" of America in its tracks.

But for heaven's sakes -- be inclusive.

Get Governor Palin invited now. Post haste.

She was the first woman VP nominee of the Republican Party. She has more than earned simple, basic respect.

Lord points out the obvious: "Having a unified convention is Politics 101."

Related: Tony Lee observes:
Mitt Romney’s campaign knew they would have to deal with Sarah Palin at the convention. On one hand, they should have known that 2012 will be a so-called “base election” in which the side that best mobilizes its base wins. To that end, there is not a figure on the right that energizes and excites Tea Party conservatives and Evangelicals like Palin. She is the north star of the Tea Party movement that changed the political landscape in 2010. Not inviting Palin would threaten to piss off the conservative base that has never warmed to Romney.

On the other hand, a prominent, primetime speaking slot for the former vice presidential candidate would surely overshadow Romney the technocrat. Palin's 2008 convention speech and vice presidential debate were two of the most watched performances in political history. Romney's dilemma could turn out like Ronald Reagan’s impromptu remarks at the 1976 convention and, to a lesser extent, Pat Buchanan’s stemwinder of a speech at the 1992 convention which overshadowed Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush, respectively.

Like everything that has come down the pike this campaign season, the Romney campaign was caught flatfooted and unprepared for delicate questions about Palin's role at the convention.

Newsweek: Will Mitt Romney invite Gov. Palin to the convention?

It's no secret that Mitt Romney's campaign has not asked Sarah Palin to speak at the Republican National Convention next month. According to Newsweek's Peter J. Boyer, the Romney camp hasn't contacted her about even attending the Grand Old Party's party in Tampa:
Queries to the Romney camp about any possible Palin role at the convention meet with a stony silence. Palin does not seem surprised. “What can I say?” she responded in an email from Alaska, when asked by Newsweek about the convention, just before heading to Michigan to deliver an Obama-thumping speech. “I’m sure I’m not the only one accepting consequences for calling out both sides of the aisle for spending too much money, putting us on the road to bankruptcy, and engaging in crony capitalism.”

“In accepting those consequences,” she added, “one must remember this isn’t Sadie Hawkins and you don’t invite yourself and a date to the Big Dance.”

[...]

“Romney has said before that he doesn’t want to have to light his hair on fire,” Palin said on Fox last week. “Well, there are a lot of his base supporters, independents, who are saying, ‘Well, light our hair on fire, then!’” Palin’s objections to Romney are not so much about the man himself — she speaks of him respectfully, as he does about her — but about who, and what, he represents. Romney was the choice of the party’s elites, whom Palin has regarded with open disdain ever since her rough treatment during the 2008 campaign. They are some of the same people who anonymously disparaged Palin as a clueless bumpkin, and some of them are now helping to run Romney’s campaign.

[...]

The Romney camp will not comment on Palin, or on plans for the convention, but one adviser associated with the campaign suggested that Palin would be prohibited from speaking at the Republican convention by her contract with Fox News. “It’s true I’m prohibited from doing some things,” Palin says, “but this is the first I’ve heard anyone suggest that as an excuse, er, reason to stay away from engaging in the presidential race. I’m quite confident Fox’s top brass would never strip anyone of their First Amendment rights in this regard.” (Fox says her contract would not prohibit speaking at the convention if she sought permission.)

Palin is keeping the dates open in late August, just in case. In any event, she says, she plans to be politically active between now and November, starting with a Michigan Tea Party appearance, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. “No matter the Romney campaign strategy,” she says, “I intend to do all I can to join others in motivating the grassroots made up of independents and constitutional conservatives who can replace Barack Obama at the ballot box.”

Palin’s admirers—and they are many, judging by Facebook and Twitter metrics, where her numbers are far greater than Romney’s — still hope for a rapprochement. “Palin is the female Ronald Reagan of our time,” says Kremer of the Tea Party Express. “There’s no one that excites the base, and energizes the base, the way that Sarah Palin does. There’s just not.”

Despite the risks, Team Romney may be well advised to consider bringing Palin inside the tent. Whether she’s in Tampa for the convention or not, she will be out there somewhere, and talking.

Even if Romney's campaign completely snubs Gov. Palin at the convention, she will have a presence there. As the Tampa Bay Times reported in April, SarahPAC has reserved space in Tampa the week of the big event at a plaza within easy walking distance from the convention hall. Team Romney can ignore her, but they can't get her to sit down and shut up.

Hopefully, it won't come to that. During the primaries, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum said things about Gov. Romney far more damaging than anything even hinted at by Sarah Palin. Yet the Romney people sat down with both of these former rivals and worked things out, even getting the two to campaign for him. Since Romney's forces were able to bury the hatchet with Newt and Rick, they should have no problem coming to an accommodation with Mama Grizzly. That is, if Romney really wants to reach out to her and the millions of Tea Party activists he will need on his side to defeat Barack Obama in November.

Detroit News: Sarah Palin brings positive energy, message to tea party faithful

The Detroit News covered Gov. Palin's speech in Michigan Saturday with a favorable report:
Former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin told an energized crowd of supporters Saturday to keep up hope going into the election season.

"I don't want you to be bummed, I don't want you to lose courage and I don't want you to lose hope and faith that things can be turned around, though the challenges do seem daunting," Palin told a cheering crowd of at least 400 strong gathered at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. "We must not lose our sense of optimism."

[...]

But the enthusiasm of the crowds could not be compared to when Palin appeared shortly before 4 p.m. Dozens ran to the stage to get close enough to snap a picture. Supporters screamed "You go girl!" and "Palin for Energy Secretary."

[...]

Palin touched on a myriad of issues including the energy crisis, the budget deficit and healthcare. She said President Obama's vision for the country is to fundamentally change America.

"Why would anybody want to fundamentally transform what is so good and free and strong about America?" she said.

"We're little tea pots and we're getting steamed up because Obama is tipping us over, pouring us out and draining the entrepreneurial spirit from us, that which grew America into the most exceptional nation ever known."

Sarah Steelman says she's ‘proud’ to be compared to Sarah Palin

Former Missouri State Treasurer and current candidate for the U.S. Senate Sarah Steelman said in a news release by her campaign Friday that she's proud to be compared to Gov. Palin:
Rolla, MO- A recent article by Talking Points Memo has drawn comparison between Sarah Palin and Sarah Steelman. Steelman, who has been compared to Palin before, is flattered by the comparison.

"Recently, I have been made aware of a Talking Points Memo story that did not accurately reflect my views on Governor Sarah Palin. Let me be clear that I am proud of any comparison to Governor Palin, who has been a champion of conservative values and hard-working Americans all across this great nation."

Steelman continued, "Like Governor Palin, I have spent my entire political life fighting the Good Ole' Boys Club, despite the political consequences and personal attacks. I am going to Washington to put government back in the hands of the people, because the status quo has got to go."
Steelman earned a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's degree in Economics, both from the University of Missouri. Prior to her election as State Treasurer in 1998, Steelman served as deputy director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. She has worked as an economist for the Missouri Department of Revenue and as an adjunct professor of Economics at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. She is facing U.S. 2nd district Congressman Todd Akin and St. Louis businessman John Brunner in the August 2012 GOP primary for the U.S. Senate.

Gov. Palin: Nancy Pelosi is ‘one paranoid politician’

Sarah Palin was Greta Van Susteren's guest "On The Record" Thursday night. The GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate praised former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, but said that she hopes that Mitt Romney selects a pro-life conservative for his running mate.

Palin characterized the claim by a senior DOE official that his department's loan guarantee program was successful as "Orwellian." Citing taxpayer-funded loans DOE made to Solyndra and other failed "green" energy ventures, she said that the Obama Administration's thinking that it deserves four more years is "insanity."

Gov. Palin said that she was "so glad" that Romney went to Houston to address the NAACP. If he had refused the invitation, she opined, there would have been a chorus of cries of "racism" from the left. When Van Susteren mentioned that Rep. Nancy Pelosi had suggested that Romney went to talk to NAACP hoping to be booed, the Mama Grizzly replied, "That is one paranoid politician."

As for Democrat Party operative Stephanie Cutter's charge that Romney may have committed a felony, Sarah Palin warned that sort of demagoguery was just "the tip of the iceberg," and Romney's campaign should brace itself for much worse to be thrown at their nominee by the Democrats. The former governor suggested that Romney must "take the gloves off" and fight back hard against such tactics and dirty tricks from the left.

Palin said that Romney can improve his standing with Hispanics and other voters by continuing to show his support for legal immigration, equal opportunity and the rule of law.

Sarah Palin endorses Sandy Adams in Florida's 7th District

News from StPetersBlog:
Congressional candidate and Tea Party favorite Sandy Adams announced Thursday that she had secured the endorsement of former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin.

“Governor Sarah Palin has led the charge for conservatives,” said Adams. “While many politicians subscribe to the notion of the status quo, Governor Palin has risen above it. She knows that the true power of our country comes from the American people – not the Washington establishment or special interest groups. Governor Palin knows our nation is drowning in debt and the only way for our country to survive is to send true fiscal conservatives to Washington, D.C.

[...]

Palin made the following endorsement of Adams:
“In 2012, we have a unique opportunity to elect more commonsense conservatives to Congress, but that alone is not enough. We must support conservatives who are with us on the issues but not weighed down with the burden of crony capitalism that is so prevalent in Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Sandy Adams is just one of those candidates. Unlike her opponent, Sandy is free from the shackles of lobbyists and back door dealings in Washington. As someone who served in the military and a career law enforcement officer, Sandy doesn’t have time or the patience for the business as usual ways of Washington. Washington insiders on both sides of the aisle have spent this country into massive debt and put our children’s future at risk. Let’s start to restore power to the people. Please join me in supporting Sandy Adams today.”
Adams was endorsed by Gov. Palin in her race against an incumbent Democrat in 2010, and that support helped contribute to a 20 point win in November. At the beginning of this election, Adams approached Palin about continuing that support in her race for re-election.

Gov. Palin: Democrat attacks ‘insanely hypocritical’

Sarah Palin appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox News program Tuesday night. The former Alaska governor called the coordinated attacks by Democrats on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney over where he does his banking "extremely hypocritical," pointing out that DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz also has money parked offshore. She added that it's not where Romney puts his money that is "causing the demise" of this country but rather Obama's misguided and naive economic policies. She said President Obama can try to make the case that he's improved the economy, but that would contradict the numbers, which "speak for themselves."

The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said that Romney has the right message, but he needs to work on how he delivers it. Regarding Romney's comment about attracting conservatives ("I'm not going to set my hair on fire."), Gov. Palin said many in the conservative base would respond, "Well, set our hair on fire, then."

Asked about the media practice of oversampling Democrats when conducting opinion polls, Sarah Palin called it "par for the course" and predicted that the media would use the same tactics it employed in 2008 by covering for and promoting Obama. The governor said it was "no surprise" that Obama just "makes things up" because the media lets him get away with it by refusing to vet him thoroughly.

The tea party favorite predicted that Romney would more than likely "play it safe" with his selection of a running mate so that the media can't do to his vice presidential choice what it did to her in 2008.

Regarding Sarah: Quotes, Part 3

Tony Lee:
“...nobody on the conservative side will be able to clearly articulate the importance of fighting against Obamacare and cutting through the mainstream media filter like Palin can. And that is why Obama and the mainstream media, who double as his palace guards, fear Palin.”
Dan Riehl:
“They just can't get over Sarah Palin... She owns them, far more than I imagine she worries about them. And that's the new smart set. heh”
Robert Costa:
“Palin, who has become a tea-party favorite since her vice-presidential run, provided perhaps the greatest boost. ‘He’s a warrior,’ she told NRO shortly after her endorsement. Hatch wooed her for months, writing her warm letters and encouraging her when her critics were rough — and it paid off.”
John Nolte:
“Now, via Twitter, Maher is back to obsessing over the sex lives of Sarah Palin's children.”
Tony Lee:
“Once again, Palin, in less than 140 characters, crystallized what the next phase of the healthcare debate should be about -- Obama's duplicity and his penchant for curtailing the liberties of Americans through his big government policies. In a new media age in which there is so much clutter, Palin's tweet again showed her substantive messages can cut through the mainstream media filter like no one else's.”
PolitiFact.com:
“Palin is correct that Obama ‘said (the individual mandate) wasn't a tax.’ It’s right there in the video. We rate the statement True.”
Warner Todd Huston:
“Apparently someone mentioned to Mr. Pitts that Governor Palin, who Pitts thinks is a ‘silly’ person, mentioned his profession at this year’s Right Online event, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. During her remarks at the weekend planned in part to celebrate the life and work of conservative Internet giant Andrew Breitbart, Palin said, ‘Every citizen can be a reporter.’ This struck Mr. Pitts as an outrage. Why, only real reporters, he feels, can properly report the news. Pitts proves to us how great these professional reporters can be with his very article, too. I mean, where else can we get such timely ‘news’ reports on events that happened two weeks ago but from a professional journalist like Leonard Pitts. Jr.?”
Jim Hoft:
“Sarah Palin destroyed Bob Beckel... on ‘The Five.’ Beckel tried to bash the former Alaska governor on her death panel comments, but came up short. It was brutal.”
Greeley Ty Ford:
“What is it about Leonard Pitts and his fascination with Sarah Palin? It seems like he bashes her regularly. What has she done to deserve such condescension from him? She did achieve getting selected and nominated for vice president of the United States. What has he done comparable to that? He types columns. Whoop de-do... Newspapers are tremendously important... But if newspapers are losing ground, it’s because of writers like Leonard, the absolute Pitts.”
John Nolte:
“Now, via Twitter, Maher is back to obsessing over the sex lives of Sarah Palin's children.”
Stacy Forster:
“News coverage of Palin, then the Republican governor of Alaska, not only significantly outweighed that received by Biden, then a U.S. senator from Delaware, was markedly different in substance and across media, according to a new study of media coverage of the vice presidential candidates. Coverage of Palin was more likely to include references to her family, physical appearance and social issues, particularly in newspapers and by political blogs, while coverage of Biden dealt more with foreign policy and the economy.”
Twitchy.com:
“Sarah Palin is still living rent-free in progressives’ heads. And it’s awfully damp and musty in there.”
Stacy Drake:
“So, what are the odds that many of the ‘anonymous’ attacks against Governor Palin from team Romney, actually came directly from Kevin Madden? If you look at his history of on-air statements, and his reputation, it’s not a very far-fetched notion. The Romney campaign is trying to give off the appearance that they are getting their camp in order to settle the stomachs of GOP donors. Perhaps elevating an individual, who is known to many base conservatives an an under-handed, trash-talking opportunist, isn’t the best way to go about that.”
Jeff Goldstein:
“Wouldn’t it be wonderfully ironic if one day Tina Fey can see Russian missiles from her front porch?”
Tony Lee:
“On FOX News’ ‘The Five’... former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has led the charge against Obamacare, clearly articulated what election 2012 and the fight against Obama is about when she said the only promise President Barack Obama has kept was his promise to fundamentally transform America... Palin is right. Obamacare now essentially becomes ‘Obamatax’ and, like all taxes, will be debated in the political arena.”
John Nolte:
“Today's media would treat Abigail Adams like they do Sarah Palin.”
Todd Palin, on what he did on the new military reality show ‘Stars Earn Stripes’:
“You name it, jumping out of helicopters, running, rappelling walls, shooting all kinds of weapons... I'm a little sore.”

Sarah Palin: Celebrating America, Palin Style

Posted on Facebook Tuesday by Gov. Palin:
Trig and I are gearing up to watch Piper Indi march in the “big” annual 4th of July parade tomorrow with her cousins in Wasilla! (Yes, Piper’s middle name “Indi” is short for Independence.) Todd picks up Bristol and Willow to fly them over to Bristol Bay so they can get their hands dirty on our commercial fishing grounds – the season’s peak is soon and we’re praying for an onslaught of wild Alaskan salmon to slay for appreciative consumers and a huge harvest for our young crew that needs to make some money for school tuition! Willow celebrates her birthday during this holiday week, and she gets a tank of gas in her pickup truck; it's her favorite gift. Glad it’s Tuesday because we'll get to tune in to Bristol’s show “Life’s a Tripp” on the Lifetime Network tonight amidst Piper’s parade preparations… I think it’s the episode where the girls attend the CPAC conference with me and we have a wild time with great friends and patriots! Tune in tonight to see Willow's profound advice she shares on my politics. :)

Thinking about our son and all of America’s deployed troops and our vets who let us celebrate our great nation’s independence. Thank you, U.S. military, for serving there so we can celebrate here. We love America and we thank those who serve and sacrifice.

Happy 4th of July, America!
