Sarah Palin: Please support, honor and pray for our troops

On Facebook, an appeal by Gov. Palin to remember our troops:

Troops
Last night wrapped up a convention that was very encouraging; so, thank you to all who worked hard to provide needed inspiration while focusing on the U.S. economy. And for all the great speeches we heard at the convention this week and those we’ll hear next week, I sincerely hope we as Americans, despite our political disagreements, will respectfully remember our brave men and women in uniform – for they are still in harm’s way so that we can sleep in peace. Our troops in Afghanistan have suffered terrible casualties this year. We don’t hear much about this lately. You never hear our troops complain though, even when it seems like some of us safely back home enjoying the freedoms they protect too easily forget their sacrifices. But the moms wearing blue and gold stars remember. The wives and husbands raising kids alone while their spouse is in a war zone remember. The kids whose mom and dad can’t be there for birthdays and school plays and skinned knees and graduations remember. Every American who loves freedom should remember.

To our U.S. troops over there, please know that we remember your sacrifice. We support and honor you, and we pray for your safe and speedy return home where you are loved and belong.

Gov. Palin: ‘Politics drives me crazy’ (and she's not crazy about politicians)

Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News Thursday night during coverage of the GOP convention:

The former Alaska governor told Sean Hannity that Republicans should do less preaching to the choir and need to work on getting their message out to independents and blue collar Democrats. She invoked Martin Luther King as she pushed back against the political left and their charges of racism against Republicans. "The GOP is a big tent. I don't care about somebody's pigment," she told Hannity, "I do care about their character."

Earlier, Gov. Palin was on Fox Business with Neil Cavuto:

The Governor said that the nation's economy was "in a meltdown" and challenged those who supported TARP, the auto bailout and Cash for Clunkers to amid they were wrong and apologize to the rest of the country. She identified herself as part of The Tea Party movement and just "common folks." When Cavuto floated the idea of a possible White House run, the 2008 vice presidential candidate seemed to dismiss the idea, explaining, "I don't know where my path will take me, because to tell you the truth, Neil, politics drives me crazy, and I don't necessarily like politicians."

Sarah Palin: Biden may ‘call in sick’ night of VP debate

Gov. Palin called into "America Live" on Fox News early Thursday afternoon and joked that Joe Biden may be dreading the scheduled vice presidential debate with Paul Ryan:

The former Alaska governor said Matt Romney and Ryan will have to be prepared for attacks from "Obama's lapdogs in the liberal media" who will stop at nothing to help reelect "the chosen one." The Republican ticket mates, she added, must present "a clear plan" to turn the country around and must make sure that voters understand it.

When host Megyn Kelly mentioned the recent firing of Yahoo! News Washington Bureau Chief David Chalian for his comment picked up by an open microphone that Republicans were "not concerned at all" about Hurricane Issac because "They are happy to have a party with black people drowning," the Mama Grizzly related her own personal experience with the man. "I had to deal with him four years ago, " she recalled. "He changed the context of my remarks" made to Charlie Gibson in an ABC News interview while she was a candidate for vice president in 2008. Palin told Kelly she was "glad that yahoo got canned." Chalian, who was working for the network at the time, produced the edited final version of the interview.

The Tea Party favorite also said that she thought Paul Ryan's acceptance speech to the 2012 RNC Convention Wednesday night was "great," and she praised the Congressman for presenting "big ideas." Governor Palin then quipped that Biden may feel "tempted to call in sick" on the night of the upcoming debate when Ryan and the vice president will face each other.

Gov. Palin: Please join me and Jim DeMint in supporting Dan Bongino

Sarah Palin made an appeal on Facebook Thursday in support of Dan Bongino, candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maryland:
Please join me and Jim DeMint in supporting Dan Bongino for U.S. Senate. You can show your support for this great candidate by donating to his campaign. Dan has the message and the ability to become the 51st vote in the Senate to repeal Obamacare and give commonsense conservatives the majority.

Sarah Palin: I'm sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight

Posted just minutes ago on Facebook by Gov. Palin:
I’m sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight because I sure wanted to take the opportunity on the air to highlight Senator John McCain’s positive contributions to America, to honor him, and to reflect on what a biased media unfairly put him through four years ago tonight. Granted, our honored and esteemed war hero has gone through much more than the liberal media can ever do to him in their efforts to harm this patriot. I look forward to hearing his words to his fellow Americans tonight more than any of the other convention speeches. God bless John McCain. Thank you for everything. And happy birthday, my friend.

- Sarah Palin
Now why in the world would Fox cancel all of her scheduled interviews? Especially on the 4th anniversary of her introduction as McCain's running mate?

Update: Fox blames the convention schedule:
“Our plans changed based on the fact that the RNC condensed the schedule of speeches from four nights to three. We look forward to having Governor Palin back as soon as we can.”

Gov. Palin: Left will ‘stop at nothing’ to distract voters

Sarah Palin was Mark Levin's guest on The Great One's radio talk show early Tuesday evening:

The 2008 vice presidential candidate said the left "will stop at nothing" to try to distract voters from the sorry economic state the nation is in because of Obama's failed policies. The president, she remarked, will lead us on a path away from the constitution and beyond bankruptcy.

Palin also observed that she doesn't see the political right unifying against Obama to the extent that she believes it needs to do to defeat the president and his party in the 2012 election. As an example she cited the "power grab some in the machine" executed at the RNC convention today to suppress the influence of conservative grassroots activists.

The Tea Party favorite praised former president Ronald Reagan as a leader "who had the gut instinct to turn to we the people." She was quick to point out that she did not necessarily see Mitt Romney, who was officially nominated by the 2012 GOP convention for president this afternoon, as the antithesis of Reagan, but she had harsh words for some campaign aides who surround the former Massachusetts governor. "Some highly-paid consultants are there for a season, not a reason," she added.

The former Alaska governor said she is willing to "offer validation for underdog conservative candidates" who have the right message. She said she looks for reformers, "people with a record that I can trust," when she makes decisions whether to endorse and support down-ticket candidates. But she added that she won't campaign and insert herself into races and places where she hasn't been invited.

Gov. Palin weighs in on ‘direct attack on grassroots activists’ by GOP-e

Posted by Sarah Palin on Facebook just a few minutes ago:
Had a great time today in Gilbert, Arizona, at a rally for Kirk Adams. It's very important to pay attention to these down ballot races like Kirk Adams, Jeff Flake, and Paul Gosar in Arizona. We have to remember that this election is not just about replacing the party in power. It's about who and what we replace it with. Grassroots conservatives know this. Without the energy and wisdom of the grassroots, the GOP would not have had the historic 2010 electoral victories. That's why the controversial rule change being debated at the RNC convention right now is so very disappointing. It's a direct attack on grassroots activists by the GOP establishment, and it must be rejected. Please follow the link to Michelle Malkin's article about this.

Sarah Palin: ‘The status quo has got to go’

Gov. Palin made an appearance on Fox News' "Hannity" Monday night to discuss the 2012 election:

The former Alaska governor restated her familiar theme of "sudden and relentless reform" and declared, "We can't afford four more years of what we've been through." She reminded host Sean Hannity that as as the GOP's vice presidential candidate in 2008, she had Barack Obama pegged and had warned that if he was elected president, the country would be in for "a world of hurt with his failed, liberal, socialist policies."

The Tea Party icon pointed out that Obama promised that ObamaCare was not a tax, but it turned out to be the largest tax increase in American history. Now, she said, "November can't come soon enough," and the people have decided that "the status quo has got to go." Saying that Obama has broken nearly all of his campaign promises made during the 2008 campaign, the former Alaska governor added that the only pledge he has kept is "to fundamentally transform America."

The 2008 vice presidential candidate did the segment from Gilbert Arizona, where she campaigned earlier in the day for congressional candidate Kirk Adams. She was wearing an Adams for Congress t-shirt. Palin has focused on the down-ballot contests and said tonight, "These are the important races."

Regarding Sarah: Quotes, Part 7

Dana Loesch:
“A website that just graduated from LOLcat photos to LOLcat photos and politics is attempting to project its own bias onto Governor Palin in the wake of the VP announcement and exploit a nonexistent fissure in the right. Comparing the records of a congressman to that of a governor is incredibly neophytic considering the responsibilities of both positions are varied. Buzzfeed Hates Governor Palin, has always hated Governor Palin, and that they try to attack her through the lens of [the] VP announcement shows only that she terrifies Democrats still.”
Toby Harnden:
“Palin’s unsolicited advice to Obama, while clearly mischievous, underlines the extent to which Biden has become a national laughing stock and a potential liability for the Democrats...”
The Hayride:
“It’s amazing how, four years later, and without Palin running for office since 2008, the Obamites are still fixated on her. Because while the president brought Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton in for closer-door meetings, assumedly about planning strategy in the wake of Biden’s hideous performance on the stump, Obama’s flacks are hard at work trashing Palin – while doing everything they can not to appear to follow her advice... So just in case the Democrats might think about making a switch to Hillary, along comes Sarah Palin to suggest it. And now they can’t do it even if they wanted to. Obama can’t be seen as taking advice from Sarah Palin... So she’s helping the Romney ticket by writing Biden off. The Romney ticket wants Biden right where he is.”
Bryan Preston:
“The dummy Palin outsmarted Professor Obama once again. Heh.”
Clarice Feldman:
“Timing is everything, and seeing her opening. Sarah suggested Obama replace Biden with Hillary. Once again she demonstrated her superb political skills. Her jibe locked Obama into running with Biden again; reminded Hillary supporters how much better a choice she would have been than Joe; showed how much smarter Sarah was than Biden, the dummy Obama ran with and whose constant gaffes (like Obama's) had been downplayed or covered up by a then love struck press.”
Rudy Giuliani:
“I think Sarah Palin actually is operating at a level quite a bit above Joe Biden.”
Colleen Nelson:
“In recent elections, running mates have had a limited impact on voters’ leanings, according to previous WSJ/NBC polls. Since 2000, a majority of those polled said their vote wouldn’t be affected by the vice presidential pick in every instance but one. The exception was Republican Sarah Palin, who in 2008 sparked a stronger response, with 34% of registered voters saying that adding the Alaska governor to the ticket made them more likely to vote for John McCain — while 25% saying they were less likely to support the GOP nominee. At the other end of the spectrum, Democrat Al Gore’s selection of Joe Lieberman in 2000 spurred little movement, with 71% of respondents saying it would not affect their vote.”
Edward Olshaker:
“Because it was late in the campaign when Palin raised the issue of Obama's terrorist allies, the media in effect shouted her down and ran out the clock. For the sin of telling the truth about the emperor's clothes, she had to be ripped to shreds, along with her family.”
Timothy C. Daughtry:
“For guidance on what not to do, Romney should look to the McCain campaign's handling of the attacks on Sarah Palin. Remember how mainstream America fell in love with Palin right after McCain selected her, even to the point of causing a run on eyeglass frames that looked like the ones she wore? But the left started such a vicious smear campaign that her public image went from that of a bold political reformer to a caricature within days. Instead of seizing on the lies and the hypocrisy of those vicious attacks as an opportunity to expose the true character of the left, the McCain campaign sat back and watched it happen. The McCain campaign never recovered.”
John McCain:
“I don't think you can attribute our failure to Sarah Palin. She energized our party. She beat Joe Biden in the debate and then, of course, the stock market crashed.”
Bernie Quigley:
“It was an error for the Republicans to bring in New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the key speaker at their convention... Going into the future, conservatives hold all the cards. But they chose the past. Obviously, they should have chosen former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as their lead speaker... Sarah Palin told Greta Van Susteren on Fox last night that she would support a third-party run in Missouri. Not by accident this announcement comes as the Republican convention opens in Tampa, Fla. Like Romney, she misses nothing. Since Palin — and she was the first — came to the aid of Doug Hoffman in NY-23 in 2009, there has been a positive division in conservatism, which will grow and mature in our century. She is the natural leader of this new direction.”
Tony Lee:
“Quigley has a point. If Romney is going to beat Obama in the fall, he will need two groups of people to turn out for him in droves: the Tea Party base and white, working class Reagan Democrats. No politician excites those two groups more than Palin.”
John Hawkins:
“Sarah Palin was the GOP vice-presidential candidate in 2008. She's also the most prominent woman in the party, she may have been the MVP of the GOP's incredible 2010 election cycle, and she's one of the best speakers that Republicans have to offer. That's why it's such a shame that she's not being given an opportunity to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.”
Greg Pollowitz:
“Don’t Blame Sarah Palin for Missouri... FWIW, Palin endorsed Sarah Steelman over Todd Akin in Missouri’s GOP primary. And as Salon’s Steve Kornacki pointed out two weeks ago, Akin was the least likely to beat McCaskill come November.”
Bristol Palin:
“If any of you guys have read my book or watched any news about me at all, you know that I’ve made mistakes. Thankfully, I serve a God who forgives, and I’m grateful for His forgiveness every day. Unfortunately, people don’t often forgive, and it is truly painful to sincerely say, ‘I'm sorry’ and watch people still turn their backs on you. I pray that I won’t be that kind of person, and I won’t be that kind of person to Wayne Brady. So, we forgive you, Mr. Brady — completely and sincerely.”
Scott Whitlock:
“Liberal MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews, who previously linked Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman to the attempted killing of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, completely ignored the shooting of a security guard at the conservative Family Research Council (FRC).”
Tony Lee:
“Wolf Blitzer made the obligatory comments that there was no evidence to prove what CNN had just discussed. Yellin acknowledged there was ‘absolutely no evidence.’ She added there also was ‘no evidence’ the shooting was even inspired by healthcare. Gloria Borger started bobbing her head. But CNN just threw the Palin connection out there, irresponsibly maligning Palin with guilt she never deserved. Loughner, it turned out, was not political. In fact, the only political connection Loughner had was when he claimed Giffords ignored him during a town hall meeting.”
Yossi Gestetner:
“What makes me SICK with this narrative four years later is that it was ABC Journalist Charlie Gibson, not Palin, who brought up the proximity of Russia as a reason to start and talk about FP issues!”
Dean Cain:
“Todd Palin is awesome. He is a very quiet, soft-spoken guy. But he is an all-Alaskan man. He’s an outdoors man. He’s won the Iron Dog race -- a 2,000 mile snow mobile race -- four times and taken second five times. He’s a tough, tough guy. We saw Sarah [Palin] and she’s wonderfully sweet. She’s smaller than I thought. She didn’t get in on the competition.”
Dolvett Quince:
“Politics aside. she’s a great person.”

Gov. Palin to undecided voters: ‘Please give Romney a shot’

Sarah Palin made an appeal to undecided and reluctant voters on "America's News HQ" Saturday as she fielded questions from host Uma Pemmaraju and a few which viewers had submitted via Facebook. The former Alaska governor said that she will be in Arizona Monday, rather than at the RNC Convention in Florida, to work for U.S. Senate hopeful Jeff Flake as well as congressional candidates Kirk Adams and Paul Gosar.

The Republican Party's 2008 vice presidential candidate said that her mission is to get conservatives elected in the down-ticket races. "We need a Congress committed to repeal ObamaCare, the mother of all unfunded mandates," she explained. Mama Grizzly added that her work is aligned with the grassroots efforts of the Tea Party. Contradicting some on the left and in the media who have claimed that the movement is withering on the vine, the governor declared, "I feel like the Tea Party is just getting started."

In response to a viewer's question, Gov. Palin said her advice to Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and their families on how to deal with press scrutiny, she said was confident that they would be able to handle the pressure and would not be so naive as to trust the media.

Another viewer wanted to know if she would consider getting involved with a third party effort if neither party would do the will of the people. Citing the Whig Party, Mrs. Palin relied that she hoped that history would not "repeat itself."

Would she run for governor of Alaska again? The first woman to be elected to that office answered that she would much rather work on unlocking the 49th state's abundant resources.

The final question was what she would say to voters who have not yet warmed to either President Obama or Mitt Romney and those who may be thinking of sitting out the election. Gov. Palin appealed to those undecided and reluctant voters directly: "Please give Romney a shot." Obama had his chance to solve the country's problems and failed, she said.

Gov. Palin endorses Rep. Paul Gosar's re-election bid

Sarah Palin, who endorsed Paul Gosar for U.S. Congress in July, 2010, is backing him again in 2012. Here's the full press release from the Gosar campaign:
Today, Gov. Sarah Palin reaffirmed her support for U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar by endorsing him to represent Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District.

In 2010, Gov. Sarah Palin propelled Dr. Paul Gosar’s campaign onto the national scene when she publically endorsed him on her Facebook page by stating: “[Dr. Paul Gosar] shares our belief that the federal government’s reckless spending is putting us on a dangerous path towards insolvency – and he’s determined to do something about that…”

Two years later, Governor Palin reaffirmed her support for Dr. Gosar by endorsing his re-election campaign.

Governor Palin’s full statement:

“Dr. Paul Gosar is not a career politician. He’s a dentist, a conservative, a small business owner, and someone I was proud to endorse in 2010. His accomplishments as a freshman congressman are remarkable and a shining example of what hardworking public service is all about.

You won’t find Paul playing endless rounds of golf or hobnobbing at D.C. cocktail parties. When Congress isn’t in session, you’ll find him with the people he represents. In the past 18 months, he’s held over 24 town halls and put over 60,000 miles on his old car traveling his district. And when he is not listening to the people he works for, he is with his wife Maude and his three kids, probably pulling weeds in his yard as he thinks of ways to shrink government and bring about the reform we need in Washington to secure a prosperous and fiscally responsible America for our children.

As a freshman congressman, he didn’t just bide his time or go along to get along. He got down to work. Arizona’s largest newspaper reviewed Paul’s legislative accomplishments and concluded that “Bottom line: when it comes to sponsored bills and amendments passed by the House of Representatives, Gosar has been among the most successful new members not only in Arizona’s delegation, but also in the entire freshman class.” He’s fought hard to eliminate wasteful spending, sponsoring one bill after another to repeal wasteful programs and save the taxpayers’ money. He co-sponsored and voted for “Cut, Cap, and Balance,” and he took a tough vote to cut $2.1 trillion from the bloated federal budget, which is the largest nominal spending cut since World War II.

He’s been a leader on looking for ways to cut spending, and he’s also been a staunch fighter for the people of Arizona. Along with Congressman Darrell Issa, Paul has been laser-like in pursuing the truth about the “Operation Fast and Furious” scandal, and Paul is the sponsor of a resolution of no confidence in Attorney General Holder. He’s also defended the interests of Arizonans in taking on the Obama administration’s over-reaching EPA bureaucrats.

I think you can see why he has the support of so many Arizonans – from Governor Jan Brewer to Senator Jon Kyl. I was proud to endorse Paul Gosar two years ago, and I believe he more than deserves to return to Congress to continue his good work for Arizona’s new 4th Congressional District. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Paul and donating and volunteering for him. This is one conservative public servant you can be certain will be working hard for you and getting positive results.”

Gosar praised Palin for her work promoting conservative values.

“Sarah gives voice to so many conservatives around the country,” Gosar said. “I’m proud to stand with her as we work to take this country back.”

The endorsement by Governor Palin is just the latest in a series of endorsements for the first term congressman. Rep. Gosar has the support of Gov. Jan Brewer, U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl, U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, the Arizona Farm Bureau, National Right to Life, Arizona Right to Life, Trust in Small Business, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

Sarah Palin: Akin should fold his cards in Senate race

Appearing on Fox News' "On The Record" with Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night, Gov. Palin refused to gloat about the fact that she endorsed Sarah Steelman -- not the embattled Todd Akin -- in the Missouri primary race for the U.S. Senate:

Though she said she didn't want to gloat over it, the GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate told Van Susteren that "Sarah Steelman is the right person" to represent the Show Me State in the Senate. "I'm going to continue to support her," Gov. Palin declared. She pointed out that Claire McCaskill, the Democrat incumbent in the race, "worked hard" to to draw Akin as her general election opponent. "I recognized that," the former Alaska governor added, explaining why she chose to endorse Steelman instead of Akin.

Akin, Gov. Palin stated, should know "when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em." Asked by Van Susteren what she was suggesting, Palin answered, "I'm suggesting he get out" of the race. "We will do what we can to have a conservative win in Missouri," she said, emphasizing that McCaskill's seat is winnable for the GOP and is the key for Republicans to get control of the Senate.

Palin even said that she could get behind Steelman in a third-party challenge. It's not clear whether a candidate who has been defeated in a party's primary is allowed to run third party in a Missouri general election. Such a effort may be prevented by state law. Nevertheless, Gov. Palin left no doubt that she is willing to support a conservative candidate -- someone like Steelman, if it is not Steelman -- in a third party run for the Senate in Missouri.

Akin, who has until September 25 to petition to withdraw from the race, "has to, in a sense, take one for the team," Mama Grizzly said. She even used the phrase "bless his heart" when discussing the defiant candidate -- her way of saying she is neiother amused nor approving.

Sarah Palin Endorses Ted Yoho for Congress in Florida

Sunshine State News reports that the campaign of Ted Yoho, the large-animal veterinarian who is running for a U.S. House seat in Florida's 3rd Congressional District, has secured the endorsement of Gov. Palin. The full text of her endorsement:

Yoho Logo
“Dr. Ted Yoho isn’t afraid of hard work. To put himself through college and veterinary school he worked nights in a vegetable packing house and summers in construction. After graduating, he started and grew his own successful business. Yes, President Obama, Ted built that himself.

“Tired of watching career politicians spend us into debt and tax us to death, Ted decided to run for Congress in Florida’s new 3rd Congressional District. No stranger to hard work, Ted took his conservative businessman’s perspective from town to town, county to county and voter to voter, asking them all the same thing: ‘Had enough?’ The answer was clear. Ted’s victory in last Tuesday’s primary sent the same message we are seeing all across the country: Yes, we have had enough. We’ve had enough of our elected officials going to Washington and forgetting about us. We’ve had enough of them mortgaging our children’s future to foreign debtors. We’ve had enough of Congress wasting our money on useless programs that enrich themselves or reward their cronies. We’ve had enough of high taxes. We’ve had enough of Obamacare’s threat of faceless government bureaucrats making life and death health care decisions for us. We’ve had enough of no job growth and government red tape that stifles our entrepreneurial spirit and any hope of long-term prosperity.

“Underdog candidates like Ted aren't running because it’s easy, and they don't plan on going to Washington to just ‘go along to get along.’ No, these underdogs are running to fight for sudden and relentless reform and they know the hard work it will require to make it happen. If you’ve had enough and are ready for some real reform that puts government back on our side, please join me in supporting Dr. Ted Yoho for Congress in FL-3. Let’s send this common-sense businessman to D.C. to fight for us. He won’t forget who sent him there.”
Yoho’s reaction to winning the Palin endorsement:
“I’m honored that a strong conservative leader like Sarah Palin is backing my campaign and I cannot thank her enough for her endorsement. I admire Governor Palin for her relentless passion to challenge the status quo and to advance the conservative cause. I’m looking forward to working with Governor Palin and other conservatives as we look to take our country back, starting by repealing Obamacare. With support from conservatives we can begin to build coalitions of like-minded people who will work to return our country to the founding principles, core values and the Constitution. Common sense, a strong work ethic and a business mentality are what we need to accomplish these goals.”
The newly-redrawn 3rd Congressional District stretches from Clay County to the Gulf of Mexico. Yoho upset eleven-term U.S. Congressman Cliff Stearns to win the Republican primary. He will now face Democrat J.R. Gaillot.

Sarah Palin Endorses Dan Bongino for U.S. Senate in Maryland

Here's the press release from the Bongino campaign:
Severna Park, Maryland - Sarah Palin, former Vice-Presidential Nominee and Governor of Alaska, endorses Dan Bongino, candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland.

Though political pundits often dismiss conservative candidates running in deep blue states, I don't believe in ignoring good candidates simply because they're fighting uphill battles against the odds. In fact, I find such candidates incredibly brave and especially worthy of encouragement. In many cases, they are often the most articulate and courageous new conservative voices out there.

In 2012, we must cede no ground in our effort to win back control of the Senate and secure the House. We must fight every race to make sure we equip our next President with a wise Congress ready to work for all Americans.  We also owe it to voters in every state - even the deep blue ones - to support good candidates for office so that they have a genuine choice in November. That is why I'm honored to announce my support for Dan Bongino in his Senate race in the "deep blue state" of Maryland.

Dan is not a politician, but he has spent his career protecting them. He is a decorated United States Secret Service agent who served under three Presidents. Dan has seen what politicians have done to our country, and he's decided, "If I'm not part of the solution, I'm part of the problem." He based his candidacy for U.S. Senate in Maryland on a strong commonsense conservative platform, won his primary, and is now fighting an uphill battle against a 45-year career politician who in fact inherited his first political office from his uncle at the tender age of 23 way back in 1967 and has been in elected office ever since.

This is more than just a race of Republican vs. Democrat or conservative vs. liberal. It's about taking our country back from the career politicians in both parties who have spent us into debt, nearly taxed us to death, enriched themselves, rewarded their cronies at our expense, and have no vision to help the private sector create the jobs we need to get this economy moving again. They are the reason why Congress' approval rating is at an all-time low. In supporting Dan Bongino, we are offering Maryland voters a clear choice either to continue with the failed policies and crony capitalism of the permanent political class, or to shake things up with Dan Bongino and cast a vote that helps put our country back on the path to prosperity.

- Sarah Palin

As Dan Bongino challenges the powerful political-establishment in Maryland, he continues to look for the support and guidance of others that have faced and defeated entrenched, out-of-touch politicians.

"I am honored and grateful to receive Governor Palin's support. I sought the support of Governor Palin because she has a well-documented history of fighting against political insiders and establishment figures from both political parties driven by personal political aggrandizement rather than a desire to create a better tomorrow for our children," said Dan Bongino. "The citizens of Maryland have been subjected to the failed 'bureaucracy first' ideology of an entrenched political class for far too long. I am determined to bring both a middle-class perspective and value system back to an unresponsive class of insulated politicians. I am a political outsider and I have constructed my campaign around the idea that public office is a sacred trust placed in our elected officials by the citizenry. That sacred trust has been broken and I am making an ironclad promise to the citizens of Maryland to restore it."

Dan Bongino, a devoted husband and father, served in the United States Secret Service for more than a decade, in which he was assigned to the elite Presidential Protective Division. He represented the U.S. as a lead government security official in over 25 countries. Holding graduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology, Dan has gone on to start several successful businesses in Maryland. As an entrepreneur, he understands the role small businesses play in establishing a framework for continued prosperity and economic growth.

Todd ‘Rambo’ Palin earning his stripes

NYPD Officer and retired USMC Gunnery Sergeant J. W. Cortes, who was paired with Todd Palin on NBC's "Stars Earn Stripes," tells Fox & Friends' Brian Kilmeade that Aslaska's former "First Dude" many be a man of few words, but "his actions speak so much louder than anything he could possibly say."

Gov. Palin: Dems should replace Biden with Hillary

In an appearance on Fox News' "On The Record" Tuesday night, Sarah Palin told host Greta Van Susteren that Joe Biden is a drag on President Obama's ticket and Democrat strategists should find a "diplomatic way" of replacing the vice president with current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Her remarks were in response to comments Biden made while delivering a speech in Virginia earlier in the day. Biden had told his audience that Republicans are “going to put y'all back in chains.”

The former Alaska governor praised Mitt Romney for "coming out swinging" after being relentlessly attacked by the Democrats. "Romney grasps the notion this is not a dress rehearsal. This is what we need," she continued, "Governor Romney is on the right track by taking the gloves off." He has every right and even the responsibility to take off the gloves, she said. She observed that Romney seems to be more energized since he named House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan as his running mate.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate denounced the Democrats' campaign tactics. Speaking from her own experience on the campaign trail four years ago, she said, "I know how dirty they can be." When Van Susteren opined that both sides had taken the low road, Sarah Palin took issue, arguing that Romney and Ryan were offering solutions to the nation's problems, and it was the Democrats -- with the media's help -- who were engaged in distracting the debate away from issues of concern to voters. Because the press so protects Obama, she said, "it's tough to hear Romney's message through the filter of the media."

"Name one prominent Republican," she challenged Van Susteren, "who stoops to the levels of Alan Grayson and Harry Reid," both of whom have viciously attacked members of the GOP. She said that Democrats only want to distract from "their failed policies."

Asked by the program host if she was having second thoughts about speaking at the 2012 Republican National Convention, Gov. Palin reiterated the points she made in her recent statement on the matter. "I predicted what would happen if Obama fulfilled his promise to fundamentally change America," she added. "It's come to fruition." She said that her remarks to the 2008 convention "still stand" and continued, "I'm so anxious to hear the new voices and see the new faces" at this year's GOP Convention.

Dan Riehl Doesn't Want Palin to Speak at the GOP Convention

Taking a position directly opposed to that of John Hawkins, who has a petition going for a Palin RNC speaking spot, Dan Riehl argues against Gov. Palin speaking at the convention:
As far as I'm concerned, Palin not being at the convention makes a better statement, than her being there in the form of an empty gesture.

The GOP establishment has spent 3 years telling Palin - and in many ways, us (speaking as a conservative,) we aren't welcome unless we behave - i.e. compromise our principles to the point where they aren't principles any longer, but merely political conveniences. The heck with that.

I trust Palin to get behind Romney/Ryan to do everything she can do to help him get elected. She did that in the Facebook post cited, as she hammered Obama. I intend to do much the same thing, support Romney/Ryan every way I can because defeating Barack Obama is the right thing to do for America and for conservatism.

Still, call it the Tea Party, the grassroots, or simply more genuine conservatives, hell, it's not a rift - there's a damned #War going on for the future of the Republican Party. And I - and I'm sure Palin - are capable of doing the right thing as best we can in and until November without some slight amount of window dressing to pretend otherwise.

We may very well elect Romney/Ryan in November. I will be ecstatic. But once we hit January and so on, make no mistake, it's still #GameOn! when it comes to taking on the GOP establishment that hasn't been doing enough of the right thing for America for decades, now.

Dan makes a compelling case. His thinking and Sarah Palin's may be on the same wavelength here.

Regarding Sarah: Quotes, Part 6

Tim Stanley:
“Given how central she is to modern, populist conservatism, it’s difficult to imagine that Palin won’t feature in the fall campaign. Romney trying to deny her existence is no more possible than Obama keeping Bill Clinton away from the cameras. Palin is the Tea Party and if he’s going to motivate the Tea Party voters, Romney has to be seen with her.”
Kevin Fobbs:
“Texas heard Palin's message, now it is America's turn at the GOP national Convention in Tampa. Let Palin speak, Mitt Romney. ”
Greta Van Susteren:
“Ask yourself, does any single person in the Republican Party wield such influence with the Republican voters? Perhaps Governor Romney and the RNC better give her a prominent speaking role at the convention? If the Republican Party wants to be INCLUSIVE and if they want the Tea Party voters….the party and Gov Romney might want to ask their former candidate for VP on the Republican ticket to speak and speak during a prominent speaking time.”
Eleanor Clift:
“Sarah Palin... will be a force at the Republican Convention whether she does it from the floor or from the parking lot.”
Joe Scarborough:
“Why wouldn’t you have this women, who is by the way helping one candidate after another candidate after another candidate after another candidate, win Senate races? Why wouldn’t you let her speak at the convention in prime time? If you’re going to let Rick Santorum speak at the convention, why don’t you let Sarah Palin, who by the way again, in this environment — tested. She’s got so much to prove to all of the critics that have been pounding her for years. I think it would be the moment a lot of people would be talking about. It would be extraordinary, I think.”
Mark Vogl:
“Romney may even win without giving Sarah a place at the Tampa Convention or in the fall campaign. But my bet is, Sarah will continue to campaign without Romney's invitation.”
Adam Bonin:
“It’s difficult to think of a conservative who’s more popular with the GOP base than their most recent vice presidential nominee, Gov. Palin. Of course she belongs on prime time. Democrats have never been afraid to put ideological heroes on the stage in prime time on their conventions - Jesse Jackson, Ted Kennedy, Mario Cuomo, heck, Al Sharpton got a primetime slot in 2004. You betcha I look forward to seeing her from the stage in Tampa in August.”
Reince Priebus:
“I think a lot of her and hope that she does speak.”
Regular Right Guy:
“It is becoming more apparent everyday that the establishment wing of the Republican Party is determined to strain out the slightest vestige of its conservative support... Simply selecting a VP running mate that Romney perceives as close to the tea party and conservative base... will not be enough. He must bond with the Right, demonstrate a kinship, if you will, with their passion for true change in Washington... If the RNC is to win the White House in 2012, it must coalesce with its right-wing base now. With just over three months until the election they must move fast. And ticking off Sarah Palin’s supporters is not a good way to start.”
Leah Barkoukis:
“Buzzfeed... in one fell swoop slanders Sarah Palin, attempts to show divide within the party and calls into question whether and what type of game-changer Ryan is.”
Jeff Crouere:
“As the Republican Party prepares to challenge an incumbent President in November, it needs to have total unity in its ranks. One good way to solidify support from conservatives and Tea Party activists who are lukewarm toward presumptive nominee Mitt Romney is to invite former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to speak at the convention... Political conventions are a time that parties come together to unite behind a candidate, but all factions of the party need to feel included. Romney won the nomination even though he is not conservative. In contrast, most of the convention delegates and GOP activists are clearly conservatives. These rank and file members of the Republican Party would love to hear from Sarah Palin at the convention, as would millions of Americans watching at home. ”
Marooned In Marin:
“Sarah Palin is being punished because she has had the courage to call out the corrupt in the GOP, and the Good Ole Boys don't like that.”
Ed Morrissey:
“Perhaps this is Palin’s way of making it easier for convention organizers to keep her off the agenda; maybe she agreed to issue a soft denial for the sake of unity. She explicitly supported Romney and Ryan in the statement and attacked Obama on their behalf. Still, I think it’s a mistake to keep her off the dais. Palin electrified the convention in 2008, and it’s just good manners to have the #2 from the last ticket speak at the next convention. Few people in the party can fire up the grassroots like Palin does, and few people will draw the attention she gets. If there is still room to offer her a speaking slot, the convention should do so, and do so quickly.”
Stacy Drake:
“So, let there be no doubt that if any ‘rift’ exists, it isn’t coming from Governor Palin’s direction... This is just another instance in which we feel let down by the Republican establishment. Fine, it’s what we’ve come to expect from many of them. Just remember, don’t lose sight of what Governor Palin is focused on.”
Karen Tumulty:
“Though Sarah Palin will be missing from the speaker’s podium at the Republican convention — which, of course, was the first look that most of the nation got at her four years ago — she retains her gravitational pull in conservative politics. Even Dick Cheney was compelled to walk back his dismissive comments about her selection for McCain’s ticket — perhaps because they hadn’t set well with his own daughter, Liz. What I think Palin recognizes is that hers is a party that is still sorting out its own identity — and for the foreseeable future, that is an identity that will continue to bear Sarah Palin’s stamp.”
John Hawkins:
“When this many people are deliberately staying silent when they could just say, ‘We invited Palin to speak and she declined,’ it tells you all you need to know.”
The New York Sun:
“More than any other politician of her generation, Mrs. Palin has stood for what she over and over again has called ‘constitutional conservatism.’ It’s not ‘neo-’ conservatism exactly. That magnificent strain to our politics was opened up by former leftists who saw that the ideals to which the left once gave lip service were better vouchsafed by classical liberalism. It’s not ‘paleo’ conservatism of what was sometimes called the country-club or old-right. What Mrs. Palin has been talking about is a fealty to original principles, on taxation, monetary affairs, war, and spending. More to the point, in the past four years, she has taken these conservative constitutional principles to the hustings with astounding effect and shaken up not only the national debate but the Republican Party itself.”
Dan Riehl:
“Freelance writer and Washington Post contributor to their ‘She the People’ feature Diana Reese drips with condescension all over Sarah Palin. What to make of this, other than, it's not okay to be sexist but it's Sarah Palin, so I will be?
PolitiFact:
“Shortly before Ted Cruz won the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, he got a star-power boost from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at a get-out-the-vote rally north of Houston. Firing up the crowd in her July 27, 2012, speech in The Woodlands, Palin touched on some claims PolitiFact has recently addressed, plus one we haven’t: ‘One in seven American families are on food stamps.’ ... Palin’s figure is supported and may even understate the share of families on food stamps. Her statement rates True.”
Rosalind S. Helderman:
“Her continued influence might best be measured by this: Win or lose, Republicans are still begging for her endorsement.”

Todd Palin: ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ action is ‘right down my alley’ (Updated)

The New York Post talked briefly with Todd and Sarah Palin at the L.A. press party for "Stars Earn Stripes." Here's a short excerpt:
Q: What made you pick “Stars Earn Stripes” over other shows?

TP: If you are going to ask me to do “Dancing With the Stars” or go hang out with these people, I am going to hang out with these people! And be put in elements that are dangerous. Because I live life on the edge. Being a commercial fisherman, working in an oil field, snow machine racing, private pilot . . . this is right down my alley.

[...]

Q: Was there ever any chance of you doing “Stars Earn Stripes”?

SP: There is no way I could handle what they went through. The mental toughness that was required was amazing.

Q: But isn’t campaigning brutal?

SP: Politics are very brutal, but what these guys went through was very tough. Worthy cause though...

Q: What kind of effect have your family’s reality show experiences had on your political career?

SP: In my case and a lot of common-sense conservative cases, it doesn’t matter what you do, you are going to get criticized. So, you might as well live life vibrantly and have fun doing what you want to do. As Bristol has always said, “The critics will criticize, the haters are gonna hate, so you might as well dance.” That is what we are doing.

Gov. Palin's statement on the 2012 Republican Convention

As posted late Sunday afternoon by Fox News host Greta Van Susteren on her GretaWire blog:
“…Everything I said at the 2008 convention about then-candidate Obama still stands today, and in fact the predictions made about the very unqualified and inexperienced Community Organizer’s plans to “fundamentally transform” our country are unfortunately coming true. This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I’m excited to hear them. As I’ve repeatedly said, I support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in their efforts to replace President Obama at the ballot box, and I intend to focus on grassroots efforts to rally Independents and the GOP base to elect Senate and House members so a wise Congress is ready to work with our new President to get our country back on the right path. This is imperative. As President Clinton said in 2008 while candidate Obama and lapdogs in the media were thrashing his wife’s record and reputation, this is “…the biggest fairy tale.” For the sake of America’s solvency and sovereignty we must close this nonsensical book in November…”

Sarah Palin: ‘I'm all in for Romney and Ryan’

Gov. Palin appeared with Shannon Bream on Fox News early Sunday afternoon to discuss the 2012 election and field some questions from viewers:

The former governor of Alaska left no doubts about her support for the 2012 GOP presidential ticket. "I'm excited that we now have the team of Romney/Ryan to offer an alternate vision of America," she stated. She was pleased with Gov. Romney's selection of Paul Ryan, she said, because the choice makes the election about the Obama economy. Gov. Palin said this campaign should be different for Ryan than the 2008 contest was for her because some members of the McCain campaign staff worked against her. She doesn't think Ryan will have that problem with Romney's team. "There's a lot of us who will have his [Ryan's] back," she added.

Her assessment of the GOP ticket's chances is that it is in a very competitive position. With the selection of Ryan, Romney has fiscal conservatives on his side, she explained. She said the task the GOP presidential candidate now faces is to persuade independents that he and Ryan have the right solutions to fix the nation's problems, and Ryan has already proven that he is a problem-solver.

In response to a viewer's question about the vice presidential debate, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said that while her debate with Biden was focused on foreign policy and the Iraq war, the Biden-Ryan debate will be more centered on the economy. Since economics is Ryan's strong suit, he is already well-prepared, she pointed out.

Asked if she would accept a cabinet position in a Romney administration if offered, Sarah Palin pushed the question aside as "hypothetical." She said right now she thinks she can best help the ticket by reaching out to independents.

In defense of Ryan's plan for Medicare, she stressed that the media has distorted the plan, and Americans 50 years of age and older will not be affected. "We must reform health care," Gov. Palin declared, and the Ryan plan offers common-sense reform of the program.

The governor made it clear that she is willing to stump for the Republican ticket, stating, "I'm all in for Romney and Ryan." She said her mission is to help -- not hurt. That's why she has "stepped back" to concentrate on down-ticket races.

Mame Grizzly concluded by asking viewers to pray for the Ryan and Romney families, and she repeated her familiar refrain, "May we always be happy, and may our enemies know it."

Sarah Palin: Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Paul Ryan

From Gov. Palin via Facebook late Saturday night:
Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate. President Obama has declared that this election is about “two fundamentally different visions” for America. Goodness, he’s got that right. Our country cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama’s fundamentally flawed vision. We must now look to this new team, the Romney/Ryan ticket, to provide an alternate vision of an America that is fiscally responsible, strong, and prosperous – an America that understands and is proud of her exceptional place in the world and will respect those who fight to secure that exceptionalism, which includes keeping our promises to our veterans.

When I think about the direction our country is rapidly drifting in, I can’t help but look at California as a cautionary tale. The Golden State once boasted the entrepreneurial innovation of Silicon Valley, the American creative engine of the arts, economically powerful and beautiful cities from San Francisco to San Diego, and fertile farmlands that helped feed the nation. Now it is descending into financial ruin accompanied by an exodus of middle class Californians leaving for other states. As one writer put it, California’s “fastest-growing entity is government and its biggest product is red tape.”

Obama’s vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather.

Obama’s America is today’s California – complete with $100 billion taxpayer funded bullet trains to nowhere; out of control environmental extremists who have destroyed family farms and left some of the most fertile farm land in America fallow in order to protect a three inch fish; permanent high unemployment; government policies hostile to small business job creators; crippling high taxes; an abysmal real estate market; bloated government that wastes taxpayer money; endless budget shortfalls due to massive unfunded liabilities; city after city declaring bankruptcy; and a state government run by, in the words of one Wall Street Journal writer, “a brothel of environmentalists, lawyers, public-sector unions and legislative bums.”

We can’t afford Obama’s vision. Our children can’t afford it. Today we are over $15 trillion in debt and running up trillion dollar budget deficits year after year for as far as the eye can see. And our “leaders” have no plan to stop it! President Obama and this Congress don’t even have the fundamental blueprint—a budget!—to outline where they intend to take us as they merrily roll along with their out of control spending and constant increases of our debt “limit.” Our debt to China alone is more than we can ever hope to pay off in multiple generations. Such debt and dependence on foreign nations weakens us in countless ways. And yet our government keeps on spending despite the risks and despite conscientious, hardworking citizens telling them to just stop it. Our debt is growing by $3 million per minute. This debt, in conjunction with Obama’s massive government over-reaches like Obamacare, has strangled the private sector, which in turn has stifled job growth and slowed all economic growth. The only way to get our country moving again is to get back to basics like normal people do with our home and small business budgets! That means we must live within our means, get government out of the way of our job creators, develop the God-given natural resources we have been blessed with to provide real jobs and real energy security, and stop growing government and wasting taxpayer money on D.C. cronyism and useless stimulus kick-backs for favored donors.

Barack Obama’s record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn’t talking about it. He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents. The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration.

Over the next 86 days, Barack Obama will try to distract us from his record. Many in the media will roll along with him in this mission. We must not let them continue the deception and distractions, and we must not be afraid to call the President out on his lies. His entire record in office exposes the false promises he made four years ago. So, let’s take a moment to remember what candidate Obama said just four short years ago.

Candidate Obama promised us fiscal prudence. But President Obama’s reckless spending and lack of fiscal leadership has led to the downgrading of our nation’s credit rating for the first time in history.

Candidate Obama decried reckless spending and promised to cut the deficit. But President Obama and those in Congress who control the purse strings and “go along to get along” have tripled it. President Obama’s proposed budget was so absurdly and wildly irresponsible that not one member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, voted in favor of it. And yet the Democrat controlled Senate still refuses to pass a budget itself, and this refusal has been going on for years now. That is irresponsible and, much more, it’s unconstitutional.

Candidate Obama promised us a “smarter government,” but President Obama has created a government that’s not too big to fail, but too big to succeed.

Candidate Obama promised us a plan for American energy independence. But President Obama has forced American taxpayers to subsidize bankrupt green energy companies with ties to his campaign donors. And when it comes to the energy we actually use to fuel our economy, President Obama’s administration blocks drilling and drags its feet on the permitting process. Meanwhile, he supports foreign energy developments, but not American made energy development. His administration opposes everything from drilling in ANWR to building the Keystone Pipeline to coal plants, but he’s all for subsidizing offshore drilling in Brazil and sitting back on his thumb while China moves in to pursue oil deals with Canada because his administration blocked responsible energy infrastructure development.

Candidate Obama promised us “the most transparent administration in history.” But in addition to refusing FOIA-requested documents, President Obama’s administration regularly holds meetings outside the White House and off the official White House visitor list with lobbyists and corporate interests they don’t want us to know about.

Candidate Obama promised to unite all America, but President Obama has cynically divided us again and again in his efforts to win reelection by playing identity politics and class warfare and pitting one group against another.

Candidate Obama promised us a “fundamentally transformed” America, and that is the only promise he’s delivered on. We can see now what his idea of “hope” is. Now we want change. He has failed to lead, so We the People must lead. And our leadership starts at the ballot box on November 6th.

Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it’s also imperative that we get involved in the nation’s important House and Senate races. These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!

Gov. Palin Call: ‘I ask you to vote for Sandy Adams for Congress’

On the final weekend before Florida's primary election for the U.S. House, GOP candidate Sandy Adams' campaign is calling voters in the state's 7th Congressional District using a new automated phone message recorded by Sarah Palin, who endorsed Adams July 12.

"Hi, this is Governor Sarah Palin. In the race for Congressional District Seven, there is one candidate who strongly believes in limited government and is willing to stand up for constitutional principles. And that's Sandy Adams. Sandy Adams has served our country in the United States Air Force and spent seventeen years protecting Central Florida families as a deputy sheriff. Sandy was a straight-talking conservative voice in Tallahassee and served in Congress as a member of the historic group elected in 2010 to change Washington. Sandy should stay there doing just that. Sandy Adams has never requested an earmark and led the charge for the largest cuts in government spending since World War II. Even my "favorite" newspaper, The New York Times, called her "the toughest new member" of Congress. Florida has a choice on August 14th: another big-spending career politician or the conservative reformer, Sandy Adams. I ask you to vote for Sandy Adams for Congress on August 14th." Paid for by Sandy Adams for Congress.
